THE THIRD MONTH INTO THE FLIGHT

The migration of the female white-fronted goose, followed by the chief researcher of the laboratory of ornithology and parasitology of Murmansk Marine Biological Institute, professor Natalia Lebedeva, continues. For more than a month, the goose, marked in a parking lot in the valley of the West Manych, rested and replenished its forces in northern Kazakhstan. And on May 23, she continued migration to the north along the West Siberian Lowland to the breeding area. The bird flew mostly at night, overcoming over 400 km in 6 hours. Within 1.5 days, it moved more than 1000 km north of the last stop. Stops along the way were small: only for a few hours. There are still open questions: where is the migration destination, when will the goose arrive, will it breed?
