PROJECT RSF MMBI KSC RAS HAS ENTERED INTO THE FINAL STAGE

06.05.2019

Employees of plankton and oceanography and radioecology laboratories of Murmansk Marine Biological Institute started the final stage of the project 17-14-01268 "Biology of Arctic plankton in the zone of the polar front". The project was supported by the Russian Science Foundation in 2017 and is designed for 3 years. The project aims to deepen understanding of processes and mechanisms of pelagic ecosystems functioning of the Arctic region as main components ensuring stable existence of fish stocks (by the example of the polar front of Barents Sea). Now scientists are analyzing features of functioning pelagic ecosystems in the polar front of Barents Sea, as well as studying changes in plankton communities and carbon fluxes. These were topics discussed by MMBI and journalists of Murman State TV and Radio Company "Murman".
