Scientific polar expedition “Transarctic - 2019” on the RV “Akademik Treshnikov” continues successfully. On March 28, the expedition ship, as it was intended, moored to the ice floe, and on March 30, the drift research station North Pole – 2019 of the experimental ship ice type was solemnly opened. Drifting "station" is moving to the West at a speed of 10-11 miles per day.

MMBI research team is actively involved in the work. Bottom sediments, water, snow and ice are sampled for radioecological studies. A box-core soil sampler is used for the selection of zoobenthos, which, according to Olga Zimina, will allow assessing biodiversity of continental slope above latitude 80th in the soil not only by area, but also in a vertical section.
