SCIENTISTS DISCUSSED PROBLEMS OF ECOLOGY OF ARCTIC MARINE ECOSYSTEMS AT THE ARCTIC FORUM
Traditional Arctic Forum was held in St. Petersburg, April 8-9, 2019, which has been a platform for several years to discuss topical issues of socio-economic development of Arctic territories and create mechanisms for effective development of powerful resource potential of the Arctic region. Academician Gennady Matishov, Academic adviser of MMBI KSC RAS, took part in meetings. Academician Matishov was invited to participate as a moderator and speaker at round tables at the Dialogue of Arctic Researchers session included in the business program of the forum. At the round table “Comprehensive studies of the Arctic region”, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, Gennady Matishov proposed the topic of research on climate, radioactivity, biosphere in seas of the Arctic Ocean in the 21st century. At the meeting, G. Matishov presented the first results of a project supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, “Radioactive contamination and secondary sources of anthropogenic isotopes in seas of the Arctic Ocean at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries” (No. 18-05-60249 Arctic).
