18.12.2018

Leading scientists of Murmansk Marine Biological Institute will give several lectures on problems of the relationship between marine organisms and external environment in the framework of the Young Scientist School "Problems of Modern Biology of the Arctic". The school is organized by the Department of Natural Sciences of MASU and runs from December 12 to December 22, 2018. The school opened with a lecture from the chief researcher of the laboratory of algology, Dr.Sc. M.V. Makarov on the theme "Adaptation of macrophyte algae to the conditions of the Arctic". Professor G.M. Voskoboynikov and PhD D.V. Pugovkin talked about the role of macrophyte algae and hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms in bioremediation and degradation of petroleum products in the aquatic environment.

December 19, at 12.20 pm (room 013, Kommuny St., 9), a lecture will be given by an employee of plankton laboratory, PhD I.V. Berchenko, "Arctic Plankton: Modern Research Directions".
