RESEARCHERS OF SPITZBERGEN WILL MEET AT A SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE

October 31 at 10 a.m. in the conference hall of the Polar Geophysical Institute at Murmansk, Khalturina str., 15, will be the opening of the XIV All-Russian Scientific Conference with international participation "Integrated studies of Svalbard nature and offshore" will take place.
The conference is organized by the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Currently, this conference is the only scientific forum in the Russian Federation that brings together Russian and foreign researchers of Spitsbergen. Ensuring a Russian presence on the Spitsbergen archipelago is one of the strategic priorities of the state policy in the Arctic. Russia is objectively interested in maintaining stability in Spitsbergen and maintaining conditions for conducting broad scientific activities. On the territory of the Murmansk region, there are 6 organizations (MMBI, PGI, PABSI, FRC KSC RAS, Kola branch of FRC UGS RAS, Murmansk weather control and environmental monitoring service) conducting scientific activities on the Svalbard archipelago.

The conference will be attended by more than 100 researchers, both from organizations that are members of the Russian Research Center on the Spitsbergen Archipelago consortium and from other scientific institutions from Russia and Norway.
By the beginning of the conference, abstracts were published and posted on the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI). The collection includes 86 theses of reports of 200 authors from more than 40 scientific organizations from 5 countries. Enhanced to scientific articles version 26 of the reports will be published in the 4th issue of the journal "Bulletin of the Kola Scientific Center of the RAS".
Simultaneously with the conference, a meeting of the Scientific Council of the Russian Research Center on the Spitsbergen Archipelago consortium will be held. The event will open on the October 31st at 14:30 in the conference hall of the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute at the address: Murmansk, Vladimirskaya str., 17.
