MMBI’s WORKS WERE REPRESENTED AT THE XXVII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “ARCTIC COAST: THE WAY TO SUSTAINABILITY”

The XXVII International Scientific Conference “Arctic Coast: The Way to Sustainability” is a traditional scientific event of the “Sea Shores” working group at the Scientific Council on the Problems of the World Ocean of the Russian Academy of Sciences took place from 24 to 29, September. A congress of geographers is taking place in the capital of the Kola Arctic for the first time in 50 years. Scientists of the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute did not remain aloof from the representative scientific event and presented results of their latest research in oral and poster presentations. Young employees of the Institute A.S. Bulavina and D.A. Valuyskaya spoke about sources of anthropogenic pressure on coastal waters and coastal areas of the Kola Peninsula and their impact on individual components of ecosystems. The leading geographer of MMBI, Dr Sc. S.L. Dzhenyuk presented his vision of coastal zones in land and marine environmental monitoring systems. Specialist in mapping the environmental vulnerability of marine areas of the PhD O.P. Kalinka prepared a report “Aspects of the sensitivity of the Kola Peninsula coast on the ESI index”.
