A DELEGATION FROM SOUTH KOREA PAID A VISIT TO MMBI
On August 21, 2018, a delegation from South Korea visited MMBI and came to the Kola Peninsula. Journalists of MBC, one of the three main TV channels of the Republic of Korea, came to the Kola Arctic to create a popular science film about Arctic seas. The delegation was led by a professor at the School of Northeast Asian Studies at the National Incheon University Sung Weon-Yong, a member of the Presidential Committee for Northern Economic Cooperation. Director of the Institute, Professor P.R. Makarevich and deputy director PhD D.V. Moiseev prepared a presentation on main activities of the academic institution, presented the book novelties of the Institute and spoke about the latest fundamental achievements and practical developments. Issues discussed at the proposal of the Korean delegation included: the impact of climate and economic activity on marine ecosystems, prospects for developing the Northern Sea Route, the use of marine hydrobionts in the interests of medicine and food industry, as well as topics for possible cooperation between academic institutions of North-West Russia and scientific centers of South Korea.
